I spent a week in Siem Reap, which is the tourism center of Cambodia. Only a few km outside of the city lies Angkor Wat, the largest religious complex in the world (occupying a site of 402 acres) which was built from 1122-1150 AD. The significance of this particular temple, as well as the notoriety of the Ta Prohm temple (more on that below) has largely driven the Cambodian economy through tourism, resulting in Siem Reap’s development. I hired a guide for the day, who provided great insight into the two temples I visited. In addition, he happened to be a fantastic photographer who took time to have me pose for some really fantastic pictures, as well as show me the best spots to get less egocentric shots.. I cant pretend to be an expert on the temples, so rather than provide a history lesson, but I am now convinced my next career is going to be in modeling, so I thought I should share some of the great pics.
We also went to the temple of Ta Prohm, otherwise known as the “tomb raider” temple. Many of the temple scenes in the early 2000s film Tomb Raider will filmed in Cambodia; leading to both the film and Angelina Jolie holding a certain significance to Cambodians. The filming reportedly brought in money for both the government and the people, and Angelina Jolie’s experience in witnessing the humanitarian struggles of the poor nation is said to what started her humanitarian work. She personally has purchased considerable land for conservation, donated large sums of money, and adopted a son from Cambodia. There may be some iconic shots of Ms. Jolie from the film, but I gave her a run for her money (im not delusional at all, I swear!)
Bonus pic: My view while compiling this post from the rooftop patio of where I am staying in Phnom Penh right now

Wow… what great pictures and a synopsis of history in Siam Reap. you and your guide impressed me with the photography talent. We have a couple of aunts and uncles that went there together a couple years ago and I recognized a few pictures from the area, just at slightly different angles. Go model-Nathan!
